Out of the Box...

Hello. Today I remind myself that this blog is a record of my journey to enhance my skills and improve my technique. With that in mind, I tried to step outside of my usual, and try something new. We bought a little big pool for the kids (30 inches deep, 16 feet across) late in the summer. They love it, and even though none of our children could swim before, Popstar and Princess are now cruising around like little fishies! Great investment; much cheaper than swim lessons. So, we buy the pool and fill it with 800 gallons of water. DH puts in the chemicals... instant orange water! Apparently the metals in our water oxidized; rust. The water is actually clear now, but the bottom of the pool isn't quite right, hence the odd color of the water in my pic. Check it out...

So, I was going to digitally fix the water in the photo, but that distorts the memory. Instead I decided to create a Freebie! Out-of-the-Box Mini Paper Pack Freebie consists of 8 digital papers in royal blues and pear greens. It works well with what I had in mind for this memory; I kept the layout simple, highlighting the photo with a splashy underlay (Grunged Up Photo Blocks by Katie Pertiet), adjusting the layer style to soft light and multiplying a few times. The word play down the side seemed to say it all. This freebie Paper Pack has a clean fresh design with minimal texture on the solids. Wouldn't the green be great for a trip to the cider mill? I think I'm planning a trip!

Birthday Scrappages!

Woo hoo! I found some time to scrap 'lil Big Guy's birthday. Please take a peek...

Okay, freebie time! Here's the first mini page kit in the Boys Rock collection. It includes everything you need to re-create my first scrappage. Of course you will find many different ways to combine the contents of the kit (and visit often; there will be several additions to this collection!). I had fun varying opacity and layer settings; try applying color dodge or exclusion (found on the right directly above your layers pallet if your running PSE4).

Still learning...

Hello. I have a new freebie! I started designing this one with my son in mind; he loves zoom zooms. So I started with the checkered paper and spun off from there. I wasn't going to post this kit until I actually got to use it, but I'm still trying to get the various search engines to find my freebies. I've read a lot of confusing technical jargon and walked away with the impression that more posts equal more chances of being found. If you've stumbled upon me, please please please send some friends my way. Thank you! The kit consists of 6 designer papers and 2 overlays. I'm working on some elements; Keep in touch! Please enjoy and leave me a little love; I'm feeling like a microscopic fishie in a very big sea!
